Our church family is very pleased to be a prayer and financial partner with the Licking County Jail Ministry.  Under the leadership of Chaplain Scott Hayes, a team of Officers, committee members and faithful volunteers serve the inmates and their families of our Licking County Justice Center. These dedicated Christian workers prayerfully address the varied needs of these men and women whom are incarcerated.

OUR MISSION:

1. To call, evaluate, advise and support a chaplaincy program in the County Institutions of legal confinement.

2. To provide opportunities for Christian worship experience, spiritual counsel, growth and

development,    crisis intervention, and referral

services for inmates, staff and families.

3. To coordinate these emphasis with area

churches and agencies.

On-Going Ministry programs and objectives include -

 

1. Weekly Worship Services, on-going Bible Studies and Baptismal/Communion Programs.

 

2. 'Be a Friend Program" - linking area Christians with inmates in one-on-one friendships.

 

3. After care Ministry - assisting those leaving the facilities with readjustment &/or partnerships with area churches and agencies.

 

4. Individualized counseling and follow-up.

January - June 2005: Our report....

 

1. Volunteers made 2,169 contacts with inmates.

 

2. Pastor Hayes made 776 inmate contacts.

 

3. LCJM volunteers contributed 1,029.5 hours of service in Jesus Name!

 

4. Forty-four inmates made professions of faith in Christ! 

 

5. 138 Bibles, 181 Daily Bread Devotions and 39 copies of Purpose Driven Life were given to inmates.

 

6. Four inmates were baptized!!

Prayer points for this necessary and needed Ministry include:

 

 

A. Wisdom and discernment for the Team members as they place themselves under God's Authority, seek to be filled with His Spirit and communicate His truth from the Bible.

 

B. That God may make His on-going work among these peoples clearly evident - and in so doing, Team members would be faithful to join Him in it.

 

C. That God would exalt Himself through prepared hearts and an openness to the Gospel as it is given in a relevant life-changing way.

 

D. That the team members would possess an increasing love, compassion and subsequent hunger for the lost ness of those incarcerated.

 

E. That God may richly provide for all the financial and Spiritual needs of this viable Ministry.
