Missions
Skopie it out !
The Missions Committee of Spring Hills Baptist and Mission
Pastor Gary W. Kirkpatrick, invite you to join us as we unite with God in His
pursuit of a personal love-relationship with ALL PEOPLES OF THE EARTH.
Believing in the
authority of Scripture and the mandate given
to connect the world with His
glorious presence, we affirm our pledge to
passionately follow Christ Jesus in this task
by agreeing with His life purpose, as told to
His Father ....
"I have brought
glory to You here on earth,
by doing everything You gave Me to do." John.
17:4
John Piper says
"missions exists where worship does not,
however, missions is not the ultimate goal of
the church, worship is. Worship is
ultimate, not missions because God is ultimate
not man. When this age is over, and the
countless redeemed of man fall on their faces
before the throne of God, missions will be no
more. It is a temporary necessity. But
worship, it abides forever!! Worship therefore
is the fuel and goal of missions...."
If
then, missions exists because worship doesn't,
and missions is the means not the goal, what
is it exactly? Missions is.... outside of us.
It is a call to our neighbors, our local
communities, the isolated cultures and
individuals within our political nations, the
cross-cultural people that seem distant in
lifestyle but are near in location. It is the
young, the old, the poor and the rich. It is
those who are far in geography and close in
culture or distant in culture and close in
geography - it is the nations and peoples of
the earth.
THE REALITY...
As Mission
pastor here, I've had the great privilege of
traveling and experiencing life in nine
nations/people groups on four
continents. I consistently experience one
over-whelming truth: the remarkable love our
creator God has for His people and the call He
has placed within us to know Him and make Him
known. I have seen first-hand time and time
again how "God delights in conformity
amidst our diversity". Conformity
to His ways as revealed in the Bible, called
into our hearts through His Holy Spirit and
exercised in the white-hot worship of His Son,
Christ Jesus. Diversity, in the
portrayal of this allegiance through our own
culture, custom and language!!
We have been
given an open door to join God in His mandate
to disclose the truth of His Gospel so He may
work in the lives of those made in His
image.... for the glory of His Name. Join us,
will you?
